Spoiled rotten

Christmas break is sadly drawing to a close for me, but as usual it was a lovely vacation with Davis's family. After our last exam on the 16th, we drove to Montreal where I spent the next few days birding and baking - what more could I ask for!

In addition to the usual gingerbread cookies, Linzer cookies, Christmas cake balls, and orange double chocolate chip cookies, Davis requested sliders and bacon sweet potato pucks for Christmas Eve. His family has a Christmas Eve dinner tradition of a smorgasbord of cold cuts, cheeses, pickles, crackers, pate, and hors d'oeuvres which tend to last for days afterward and make good snacking.

On Christmas Day, Davis's sister and her husband came by to open presents with us and his parents. I was a lucky duck again this year - among other things, I received a beautiful ceramic teapot from Davis's parents:

And (because he knows me so well) Sibley's Guide to Trees from Davis:

Davis's sister and her husband super-generously bought us a Blu-ray player (which, unfortunately, we kind of predicted based on the Blu-rays in our stockings!). But because that was really about 70% a gift for Davis, my brother-in-law also bought me... a labelmaker!

It was kind of a joke (because Davis's sister has one that she used to label all the Christmas presents with things that they weren't) but also kind of awesome. It's also kind of turned into:

... including people, highlighters, cats, electronic devices, and candy boxes.

And finally, in case you couldn't tell by my crappy Instamatic photos, I also got..... a new iPod touch!

Davis had bought me a red iPod nano for my 23rd birthday, which unfortunately kicked the bucket this past summer. I had been bemoaning the lack of click-wheel iPods because I'm prejudiced against touch screens, but I couldn't be happier with my iPod. Spoiled!!

What was your favourite Christmas memory this year?
