Little ones, like arachnophobia:

Or fear of the dark:

To those big, pervasive fears... like the fear of growing old.

I love that rendition of the Galileo quote. I tracked back through what felt like a billion Tumblrs to try to find the original original source, in hopes that they might sell prints of it or something, but no such luck. I think it's a beautiful idea though... that there are beautiful qualities and positive aspects to anything you can be afraid of.
This concept has helped me to be less violent toward spiders as well... I love all other creepy crawlies and think most bugs are fascinating, so I've been working on trying to extend that same scientific curiosity to spiders. I'm happy to say I haven't killed one in recent memory... if they're smaller than a centimeter I just let them be, and if they're a little too big for comfort, I do the cup-and-cardboard method and escort them outdoors.
What are your favourite fear-busting tactics?
